What to write, what to write?

I think I could sit here for hours trying to think of something to write. First, I want it to be meaningful. Next, something that is applicable to most everyone. And last, I don't know maybe . . . it should be human. It's hard because tonight I am tired and thinking is an intense activity when you are tired.

I worked outside most of the day and thought it would be nice to relax and write a little tonight. But, relax and write don't really fit together. A friend of mine talks a lot about writing some each day in his on line journel. He makes it sound so easy, but all he does is talk about it. I kindly suggest he should try it maybe then he would see it's not as easy as it looks.

Words just don't rain down from the sky. They don't just pop into your head like most useless thoughts. They also, don't come easily especially when sleep would. So goodnight and come back some other time when I can think of something to write about.

A comment to this from Howard Abrams

Are you referring to me in that comment?

Yes, it is true that I don’t write every day, but I write often enough for my pleasure. I think that it is good to write daily, but writing (like everything else) does ebb and flow with our emotional excitement.

I’ve have noticed a lot of “tricks” that people use to start the process of writing… from just writing down the first ten words that pop into your head to answering (and posting) surveys.

But the most important part of writing (or any creative process) is to feel like a failure if you don’t produce fabulous work.

Or something like that…
